Jessica Wilkes is a Music Director at The Southport School. She received her Masters in Music Education from the University of Bridgeport and has a Bachelor's in Flute and Vocal Performance from Berklee College of Music. Her unique style of teaching comes from her many avenues of teaching children while working alongside non-profits like Project Peaceful Warriors, (trauma-based yoga for kids), and Electric Girls, (stem and electrical engineering for girls ages 5-18). Jessica's strengths reside in fostering a safe space that is accessible to all different learners through music, movement, fun manipulatives, visual animation, and project-based learning experiences. Wilkes' music class infuses Orton-Gillingham structures that focus on percussion/Orff instruments, voice, and keyboards with the idea that learning music brings confidence, concentration, and creativity to our youth.
